Recognition properties of carboxylic acid bioisosteres: anion binding by tetrazoles, aryl sulfonamides, and acyl sulfonamides on a calix[4]arene scaffold.

Tetrazoles and acyl sulfonamides are functional groups that are common in medicinal chemistry but virtually unexplored as recognition elements in supramolecular chemistry. We report here on the anion binding properties of these highly acidic N-H functional groups. We have prepared two new calixarene-based tetrazole-containing hosts, as well as new acetyl sulfonamide and benzoyl sulfonamide host...

Synthesis of Hydrophobic Silicalite Adsorbent from Domestic Resources: The Effect of Alkalinity on the Crystal Size and Morphology

A new polymorph crystalline silica composition having uniform pore dimensions were synthesized by calcining a crystalline hydrated alkyl-ammonium silicate. The pore dimensions approximately were 6 angstrom for silicalite-1 and 11 angstrom for silicalite-2 units. The silicalite-1 was prepared hydrothermally at a pH of about 10 from a reaction mixture consist of water, amorphous silica and a ...

Montmorillonite KSF as a very efficient heterogeneous catalyst for the synthesis of 5-substituted 1H-tetrazoles

Montmorillonite KSF has been used as an effective and non-toxic heterogeneous catalyst for one-pot synthesis of 5-substituted 1H-tetrazoles via [3+2] cycloaddition of sodium azide with a wide variety of nitriles. The reaction afforded high yields of the desired products in a short reaction time under mild reaction conditions. The catalyst can be recovered by simple filtration and reuse...
